While I was at the Twin Falls State Park photography seminar the September estimated taxes were due so we made the trek to the post office in Mullens. This is a town in the midst of a very severe economic depression since the locomotive repair yard employing several thousand closed just a few years before this.
Seeing this fabulous mural on the back of a building adjacent to the city parking lot I just had to have a picture. The guy parked next to us having a smoke break suggested looking for the other murals scattered about the town so we started hiking the city streets and found a whole lot more. While they were very well done, many of them were so wide I needed multiple pictures to capture the whole width and I have not stitched them yet.
As we came around the front of the building with the Homecoming Mural one of the city employees was just locking it up. He had heard that we were walking the town viewing their murals and asked if we would like to see the ones here on the inside of their Veteran's Memorial Hall. Inside all the walls were covered with these wonderful murals depicting every military action of the United States. After seeing these he suggested lunch at the nearby restaurant where we were able to talk to Sarge
one of the three lead artists on this civic pride project.
These are the majority of the murals inside. If I find some extra time later I might stitch the outside murals and add them also.
