Gallitzin 2010
Pennsylvania

Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, located a few miles west of the Horseshoe Curve, is probably best known for having the western end of a major railroad tunnel exit in the middle of town.

What makes this ideal for railroad nuts from literally all over the world is the overpass positioned perfectly to photograph the trains as they exit or enter the tunnels and a high volume of rail traffic to photograph. Here in the late afternoon you can see the shadow of the overpass at the base of the last photo. I actually have a much larger set of photographs of the train exiting the tunnel that make almost a slow motion movie. Like most visitors I got so involved with this marvelous view I forgot to photograph the rest of this lovely town.
